Great Big Green Week – Sat Sept 18th to Sun Sept 26th 2021

Communities across the country will join together for the Great Big Green Week. It will be the biggest event for climate and nature ever in the UK, and everyone's invited!

We'd like to create 'our own stir' across Gulworthy and support the collaborative activities taking place across West Devon and the Tamar Valley.

You can find the local programme of events at https://www.climatechange.westdevon.gov.uk/west-devon-great-big-green-week 'Moths to a Flame'

The main focus of the week locally will be around 'Moths to a Flame' https://www.mothstoaflame.art/ – a creative community activity that joins local messages about tackling climate change into an art display at COP26 in Glasgow this November.

We're encouraging you to come together, to make moths, and chat about your climate & biodiversity concerns; or you can make your moths at home, and then bring them to a number of mini-installations we’ll set up across Gulworthy. Gulworthy Parish Church is happy for moths to be hung from trees in the church yard.

The installations will be collected up at the end of GBGW and taken to Glasgow for the mass participation artwork at the COP26 climate summit.

There are two online moth making sessions planned over the next few weeks, and subject to demand more could be added. It may be possible to arrange a session for specific groups as well subject to availability of team.

    Thurs eve – September 22nd – https://www.mothstoaflame.art/events

Once you've made your moths as a community, come together and hang them somewhere for everyone to see as part of a mini-installation.

On Saturday Sept. 18th we’ll be touring the area looking at your mini-installations and having conversations with you.

To let us know about your plans, get involved, find out more, seek support, offer help … please email hello@tamarenergycommunity.com or  kate.gulworthyparishcouncil@gmail.com.

This is an enjoyable opportunity for people to come together. We hope this can also provide a stepping stone to developing collective action to combat climate change across the area.
